| Subject: BIKES WIN!! Mon Nov 05, 2012 9:46 am | |
| Hi guys So it turns out the bikes are my new marine project. So, to start it off, here is the base starting photo. I have an attack bike too but he is buried deeper in the wardrobe and the chance of waking baby taff is too high! As you can see I have converted them quite a bit. When these bikes were bought they were all the single bikes and, IMO, would have looked really boring. Hopefully these don't! Let me know if you want to see any further photos of them! Hopefully will have an update of sorts by the end of the week. Cheers T | |

| Been a while since I posted so I thought I had better put an update - I have not done that much this week! However - this is what I plan to do before the turn of the new year - so there are quite a few potential updates heading this way;
- sort out my Eldar army for turn two and make repairs/base colour painting (to differeniate the units). - buy hardboard!!! - Make Latent's Xmas scenery present *1 - Make Rellik's Xmas scenery present *1 - Make a special one off piece of X Mas gift Scenery *1 - Paint the Sanginour for Stryph' young Nidling - Potentially paint a Necron lord for Rellik's grey Knight Aspirant - Paint baby taff's High Elf Lord on Griffen *2 - Potentially make an Eldar Bastian if anyone challenges one of my worlds in turn three and I choose to use it. - try and do more video battle reports from plymouth and have afew games! - Potantially paint Stryph's present if I get it quick enough and find the time!!!
*1 - the updates for these will go up after Xmas and all the pressies are handed out - otherwise there is no surprise *2 - as you can imagine this is the most important as I was meant to do it last year! But help a brother out here. Im struggling with the pattens and colours in my head. I'm thinking snow leapard (so white with a hint of blue in it) with a dark grey feather base? anyone come up with a better colour set for the snow leapard?
As you can see I will be quite busy, but I will try to keep this all updated. Thouhgts, comments etc... you know the drill. look out for my "how am I going to manage all that "commission work" and paint my own army at the same time" soon....

| if you want to paint the griffo as a snow leopard, i recommend using the light blue-grey space wolves paints to build it up to white-ish skin.
for the feathers, on my orkses i use:
eshin grey > codex grey (old name)> black wash > codex grey > space wolves grey > white.
sounds like a lot but youll be drybrushing alot so it take no time.

| so basically do the sane colours I use for my marine symbols now? That would be quick indeed as im ver familiar with them. Then of course I can use the elf itself and it's robes as the main colour and eye draw. Would have to do a great base too. Probably with lots of dark browns and greens. Kinda like a heather look. What colour do you think.i should go for on the elf? I was thinking maybe a dark green? | |

| nah, thats too tree-hugging hippy woodelf looking. have to go for primary colours and gold with the rich high elves
as you know i was partial to red on mine as it suited gold and contrasted well with white.
alternatively if its a snow-griffon from the annuuli mountains id go for an icy look - very light blue /grey robes with white under garments, blue hued ithilmar metal and ice blue spot colour
that would be my advice, but careful it doesnt all look washed out!

| The armour will all be a rich and polished silver with gold trim if thats what you mean? I was more referring to the cloak and banners from the lance.
I had considered the icy look, but I am fearful of losing the model. If I did do a light griffen and almost winter cloaks, I think I would need to add muted browns somewhere on the model.
On a different note, I have made progress tonight.
My Eldar army for the trip to Plymouth is all made and glued (always a good start), fits into one travel case and is ready for basic painting.
Tomorrows objective: paint the guardians in their base colour to differentiate them from other grey units!

| i thin a royal blue then...fits with the icy theme but is a bold colour so will stand out. paint the gems (of which im sure there are loads) ruby also, you could make his lance or sword firey? like a power weapon but red based instead of blue...maybe try out osl from it to redden the model overall without going all crystal palace on him | |

| Thought I would drop a reply to keep my list in Order and figure out where I actually am. My last post of what I wanted to achieve in 2012 was
- sort out my Eldar army for turn two and make repairs/base colour painting (to differeniate the units). - buy hardboard!!! - Make Latent's Xmas scenery present - Make Rellik's Xmas scenery present - Make a special one off piece of X Mas gift Scenery - Paint the Sanginour for Stryph' young Nidling - Potentially paint a Necron lord for Rellik's grey Knight Aspirant - Paint baby taff's High Elf Lord on Griffen - Potentially make an Eldar Bastian if anyone challenges one of my worlds in turn three and I choose to use it. - try and do more video battle reports from plymouth and have afew games! - Potantially paint Stryph's present if I get it quick enough and find the time!!!
With the green being completed and good to go I feel pretty comfortable with what I have acheieved! Stryphs presents wasn't painted as it is for the converted Star Gate Necrons and I do not want to touch that project! So in essence the only one that missed out was me,lol! That said, I did paint an Eldar farseer instead so I guess I'm batting even.
Over the next few days I shall try to update my four WIP blogs (Eldar, marines, terrainm, commission) to show what I have done. I have some WIP shots too so hopefully I will be able to show the processes I go through, or at least the mind set.
Remember to comment if there is anything you like or dislike, want to know more on how I did or sugest a better way. it is through forums that i figure out what i need to do and hopefully improve! Perhaps I should put this all into one mega blog instead? Let me know what you guys think!
Cheers
