Just thought id try to keep some forum activity up and update you on my Ork army.

Ive been buying stuff as and when i can and this is what i currently have!

HQ
Warboss (bosspole, Powerklaw, Cybork, Twin linked shoota)

Elites
9 x Lootas (+1 Mekboy w/ Kustom Megablaster, Grot Oiler and Mek Tools)
5 x Nobz

Troops
23x Boyz
2x Boyz with Big shootas

Fast Attack
Dakkajet (red paint job, additional twin linked supa shoota, fighta ace)
2x Deffkoptas (twin linked rokkit)
3x Warbikers (1x Nob w/ power klaw or big choppa and bosspole)

Heavy Support
Battlewagon (Armour plates, 3x big shootas, Deff rolla, grot riggers, Killakannon, red paint job, rokkit launcha, wreckin ball, zzap gun)

Looted wagon (armour plates, 2 big shootas, boom gun, grot riggers, red paint job, wreckin ball.)

I am still waiting on the battlewagon and 10x boyz to be delivered and ive bought a couple smallish models from a ModelZone shop to make my looted wagon with hopefully, if not ill use a rhino or something and "Customize" it in an orky way!

for the looted wagon at least a WIP is mandatory!

ill post pics up of my looted wagons too - both very old now so not my best work, but i still love em.

my main advice - buy a box of gretchin and have them crawl over the looted wagon Smile (buy some of the specialist tech grots from the GW website if you can justify the cost)

the list looks good! definitely need more boyz though (but im sure you know this Smile)

so far your list looks similar to mine - do you know a directionj you want to head in yet?

Yeh more boyz are a given! Will be working on that next as well as a painboy!

I shall post some WIP of my looted wagon, I have left over bits from my DakkaJet and i bought a soviet tank (1:76) and a WW2 bridge layer tank (again 1:76). Will try to make something out of these, if not ill probably get a Rhino or something and make it all Orky.

As for directions still not sure, anything you can suggest with my current list?

There are several things that I an many other non ork players fear in lists:

- 30 Boys,
- Death Rollas
- Lootas

Each of these are scary but it's the number of wounds you have to cause that make the difference. I think (I don't own the codex) you could make a 3 troops choice, 90 boys list with 30 odd lootas and battle wagons in a 1500 point list. That is so much pain to the enemy.....

Were I to make a list I would include two death rollas, group together for the armour 14, smashing a flank of an enemy. Given the way the rules work and the strength of their hits they could just destroy things. Yeah they're going to die. but I reckon they would more or less make the're points back and would simply absorb so much shooting. If you could get burna boys in them all the better! And that's while the lootas maim anything that comes forward to meet the 90 boys coming across the field. So much pain!

Im definately getting more lootas and more boyz, id really like another battlewagon also just because of the goodness that they seem to contain!

I have heard burnas in BW's are good, i was also wanting to get another DakkaJet (or use it as a burnabomma) in place of the deffkoptas.

well, im a big fan of a balamced listed - my term which ive banded around numerous times is my "lethality list", which is basically making every unit in your army lethal and a game changer.

doesnt matter what they kill, what they leave will then kill them.

but if you go that way the other chaps wont play you as they wont want any more drubbings Smile haha

to help you through example, ill unleash my secrets on the forum...my "core" list is as follows

HQ
Biker boss - power klaw, attack squig and cybork - 150
Big Mek - kustom forcefield - 85

Troops
30 footslogger shoota boyz with nob, power klaw, bosspole and eavy armour - 225
20 battlewagon shoota boyz, with nob, power klaw, bosspole and eavy armour - 165
10 gretchin with runtherd - 40

Elite
15 Lootas - 225

Fast Attack
Dakkajet with additional super shoota - 120

Heavy Support
Battlewagon with deffrolla, big shoota & red paint - 120 (has boyz in it)
Battlewagon with deffrolla, big shoota & red paint - 120 (KFF MEK + empty)

1250

ive half written a tactica which i will finish this week which will explain in depth why i use these units always.

I then fill the extra points with one of the following depending on my feelings on the day (i dont list tailor to almost any degree)

For the empty battlewagon:
19 battlewagon shoota boyz, with nob, power klaw, bosspole and eavy armour - 159
8 burna boyz plus 2 meks - 150 (8 templates & 2 S8 AP2 KMBs. usually prompts me to give the accompanying KFF Mek a burna too)

For the rest of the list:
A second Dakkajet - 120
3 Nob Bikers + painboy. Waaagh banner, bosspole, 2 PKs and 1 big choppa - 300 (?)
8 Biker boyz with nob, power klaw, bosspole and eavy armour - 240
3 Big Gunz - Kannons - 60
10 more gretchin - 40

that all i can think of atm.

so, basically i have a core list and then have a squad rotation system - but as you can see, there is nothing that isnt lethal in there. That core list ook me since i started 2 years ago to get to and perfect though - and it may not suit you.

id recommend going with your gut... but for me...as youve started with the bikes, id carry on with them.

i think you should buy 2 battleforces. that will give you 40 boyz, 2 trukks and 6 more bikers. also convert one of the nobs using the loota sprue spares into a big mek, meaning your core list would be

Warboss, big mek (kustom forcefield) and Nob squad in battlewagon (btw this combo is f-ing lethal)
12 boyz in trukk
12 boyz in trukk
30 footslogging boyz
9 warbikers
Dakkajet
2 deffkoptas

(lootas go in the optional list in the long term)

you have the footsloggers to play the anchor midfield role home objectives), and a whole heap of fast shit to charge at the opponentt in turn 1 you basically elimate a shooty armies plans as they have just 1 turn to kill you all, before you jump out of your vehicle in turn 2 and slughter everything Smile

Clearly this is shaping into a speed freaks style list, so my recommendation is to make a speed freaks list...IF that suits how you want to play!

youve both replied while i wrote my essay.

second BW = awesome
burnas in there = even more awesome
second dakkajet = do it, though careful about lumps of cheddar being lobbed at you
deffkoptas - keep em - they work well in synergy with the dakkajets
lootas - over-rated by i dont feel safe without them!

Thanks for the long reply, was busy painting my dakkajet so didnt see it until now!

Im not necessarily going for a speedfreaks list but it does seem that way.

Your "core" list is actually something similar i was going for except without the boss on a bike, what are the main advantages of having the boss on the bike?

well, my core list certainly does work, so you wont go too far wrong heading down that road!

lone biker boss - hes my own personal little signature piece and talisman who really defines my army now.

...so what does he pack?

Move Stats
12" move & fire
12" (or 2d6?) turbo boost if not firing
total 14-24" charge range

shooting stats:
3 18" twin linked, S5 AP5 shots

assault Stats
1 S5 Hammer of wrath attack,
6 S10 AP2 attacks on the charge (5 S10 PK when not charging).
Strikes last though

Defence stats:
4+ armour, 4+ cover even if in the open, and 5+ inv save,
Toughness 6,
immune to the majority of instant death threats.
all average schmos with S4 or less can only wound on 6's
3 wounds

hes like a mobile monstrous creature, who i think hits harder

As he's alone, it is easy to hide your way up the board, keeping out of Line of sight, and he has the maneovrability and charge range is high enough to then pick whatever target you want - im looking at vehicles as even an LR would not likely survive 1 round

also small squads of infantry - he has enough attacks to kill most things, cant easily be instakilled, and against most non elite infantry squads theyll be wounding on 6's, including overwatch fire, so he can be trusted to survive as long as he picks his targets well.

Even if he does get caught out in the open, hell always have a 4+ armour or cover save against shooting, and again has that toughtness 6, so reliably survives at least one round of shooting

And hes only 150 points so not a massive deal if he does croak it

he does generate a lot of threat though, and gets a lot of enemy attention - kill the warlord VP's in 6th made this doubly so. if i field other bikers i tend to use them to shield him for a while, but when i get the the opponent i tend to split him off to cover off 2 threats.

technically a lone biker boss tactically and statistically is NOT a strong choice and is not competetive despite his clear danger - he is simply too much of a fire magnet to survive with his ultimate weakness of 4+ save and only 3 wounds.

but i love him especially after the campaigns gave my HQ's character and big mek dallag painstakingly made him his first warbike and Batman suit after he had been killed one too many times on foot and couldnt keep up with the boyz footslogging anymore Smile
