So what is this all about? new rules for one of the eldar ceaftworlds? I wonder if hat will spread to other craftworlds?

Moreover what about other codexes? Ork bad moon supplement? White scar marine supplement? Hive flwet behemoth supplement?

I think much of this depends upon sales.

It is certyainly possible for most armies to have suppliments: chaos sects, eldar craft worlds, dark eldar sects, ork tribes, IG regiments etc....  This means that most players could potentially buy them and create a far more fluffy army that tailors to their specific need.  This benefits the consumer.

That said, the thought of paying another £30 is quite off putting.  Given that is the cost of the actual eldar codex there had beeter be some pretty decent rules, fluff, pictures, tutorials etc... in them to justify that kind of price.  Especially if you do need the original codex too.

I suspect that what we are seeing is potentially the start of something quite large here.  When you consider that (I think) all the codex's will be "6th" by June next year, that leaves a large release gap.  Are they going to smash out fantasy?  Perhaps a new game?  All of these are unlikely I think given theyt are ignoring the specialist games.  Additions like this allows all the codex's to be current but models to be released.

For example imagine if white scars are a suppliment.  They will likely be able to release specific white scar bikes (might even be a limited release to keep down production costs), their special character, specific codex and maybe something else.  Each white scar player wiull likely be spending £100 on average.  Then add iron fists, salamaders, crimson fists etc... and that is just the marine ones!

In short, I think if this sels well we can expect more. If this sells rubbish then perhaps not.  IMO it is likely to sell well initially but then really flat line as it will only be available on ipad.  Curious though I am I have no intention of spending money on an ipad, Codex: eldar, Suppliment Eldar and perhapos the rule book......and I doubt I am alone in that.

I couldn't help myself in the end. I bought the suppliment.

Firstly, this book absolutely needs the Eldar Codex as it has no prices and very few stat lines in this book at all. This effectively makes in a £60 army to play. That is an awful lot of money for the number of changes they have put into the book.

So the main thing to say about the changes is that they are minimal. They tweak the Eldar army book rather than make whole sale changes. Off the top of my head the changes are:

- new warlord traits
- new unique items for HQ's
- Amendments to force FOC
- Unique additions to FOC

The Warlord traits and unique items are certainly not bad at all. As with all Warlord traits, many are situational. But with the Eldar these are "one use" rather than totally circumstantial. I think this is better and is reflected more in the price/use: either by being cheaper or by being more powerful.

Some of the amendments to the FOC/unique features are really great. For example instead of a Warlock council you may have a spirit seer council. Whilst this is so many more points, it is perfectly fluffy and a great option to have. In additiona Wraith Lords (and myabe knights, I don't remember) can be your Warlord, though you still need a HQ.

All in all I think the changes really allow you to make the Wraith army that you want to run. This army will not be uncompetitive but probably won't win tournaments. It will however be prefectly fluffy for what has been written in the book.

Speaking of which...

The quality of the book is unquestioed. It is sleek, polished and pretty. There are the usual array of photos to inspire people to paint and the various sections to generate interest.

The stories/histories are what make this book great. The old fluff and stories from multiple codex's (my memory banks recalled Eldar, Nids, Guard and an old space marine one) and makes them into one coherant story line and time line. I have found this to be wonderful reading!

Overall, if this is tghe standard of book they intend to produce then I am pretty happy. It will certainly not suit everyone due to the price tags, but it will suit most.
